Ford Motor Co. has recalled more than 16,000 2011 and 2012 Transit Connect vans due to faulty windshield-wiper arms. The wiper-arm pivot pins may be too short, which could cause the wipers to come off when the vehicle is in motion. NHTSA said in a statement: “If the wiper arm detaches, the windshield wiper will fail and the driver’s visibility may be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash.” Ford said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries due to the defect.
