Thirteen years after releasing an initial draft and two years after issuing a draft for public comment, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on June 11 released its final vapor intrusion guidance document – “Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response Technical Guide for Assessing and Mitigating the Vapor Intrusion Pathway from Subsurface Sources to Indoor Air (“VI Technical Guide”).” The EPA also released its “Technical Guide for Addressing Petroleum Vapor Intrusion at Leaking Underground Storage Tank Sites” on the same day. I recommend that any persons with an interest in environmental issues obtain a copy of both reports.
