The regular session of the Alabama Legislature, which will be the last regular session of the four-year term, starts up on Tuesday, January 14. There are many very serious problems facing our state, many of which have been around for a long time, and each of them should be addressed during this session. The two political parties and other groups have been making plans for the session. Gov. Robert Bentley also will have his own program for the legislators to consider. You can also rest assured that the highly paid lobbyists who represent the giants in Corporate America have already made their plans for the session. With this year being an election year, the session should be an interesting one. While there will be lots of political grandstanding and posturing, hopefully the session will be a productive one.
