IDM Group LLC has recalled nearly 120,000 CareBears pacifiers. The pacifiers were sold at various discount and dollar stores, children’s apparel stores and Consolidated Stores nationwide as well as at Walmart Puerto Rico from October 2009 through June 2012. The pacifiers cost about $1. The pacifiers and clip have CareBear figures and a TCFC copyright mark on them. The nipple portion of the pacifier is made of silicone. The nipple can detach from the base of the pacifier, posing a choking hazard to small children. The pacifiers fail to meet safety standards, but injuries have been reported.
Consumers should immediately stop allowing their children to use the pacifiers. For additional information and for instructions for returning the product for a refund, consumers can call IDM Group collect at (212) 686-5221 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit the company’s recall web site at www.pacifierrecall.net. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is interested in receiving incident or injury reports that are either directly related to this product recall or involve a different hazard with the same product. You can contact the CPSC at www.saferproducts.gov to tell them of your experience with the product.
