Ford Motor Company/ Navistar Litigation

On behalf of our firm, Bill Hopkins is pursuing a case against Ford Motor Company and Navistar, Inc. It’s alleged that a 6.0-liter Power Stroke Diesel Engine used in certain 2003-2007 Ford model pick-up trucks and supplied by Navistar are defective. Plaintiffs have have experienced problems such as blown head gaskets, valve ruptures, poor engine acceleration, inability to start the engine, engine stalling, complete loss of power while driving and complete engine failure. These engines have been plagued with what Ford has called “unprecedented problems.” Design changes have failed to remedy the problems. State class action lawsuits have been filed against Ford Motor Corporation and Navistar in federal courts in South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio and Maine after Ford ultimately stopped offering to assist consumers and was even denying or refusing to pay warranty related to the 6.0 Liter engine. The case against Ford and Navistar has been sent to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois for MultiDistrict consolidation before Judge Kennelly. We believe our firm will be involved with the leadership of that MDL. If so, we can hopefully steer this to a successful result. Bill Hopkins (Bill.Hopkins@BealseyAllen.com) is the primary handling this matter for the Section.

My parents have a 2004 F-350 that they use for a contract mail route . They have spent over $20,000 to repair this truck. Recently they spent $5100 and it lasted 6 days ! They are in their 70;s and I was trying to find them some help on getting in on the class action suit . Does anyone know what they can do ?

We have a 2006 F 550 super duty with a 6.0L diesel engine. The vehicle has 64k miles on it and it has been the most unreliable truck we ever owned. Ford and I have probably spent over $30k in repairs already. Now the motor is totally gone and it is costing us over $14,000 to replace it. Ford only replaced parts one by one to get it through the warranty. Once it was no longer in warranty, they refuse to even assist with repairs. We are wanting to joint a class action suit to recoup our out of pocket expense. This truck was towed into the shop at least 5 times with big out of pocket expenses for meals, lodging, alternate transportation etc.

Thanks

I have 2005 F-250 with a 6.0 liter deisel engine. I have spent close to 3500.00 dollars on it in the last three months. The fuel pump went out due to low voltage,300.00 then I had to replace the alternator another 350.00 and just this week the EGR valve and the engine oil cooler unit went out, that was a cost of 2100.00 . I have a 2005 F-250 with a 6.0 Power Stroke and I am having acceleration and starting problems which is adversely effecting the fuel economy. Lift pump repairs have been made, along with the EGR delete kit all done at a local repair shop and it still did not fix it. One of the local Ford garages suggested I trade it off for a 6.7 Power Stroke and had no suggestions for a fix (they had (7) 6.0L Power Strokes awaiting repair). I have had this truck for almost 2 years, it had 45,000 on it when I purchased it and it now has 68,000. I would like to participate in the Class Action Lawsuit.

Just another sucker in the Ford mess. We bought our 04 in April of 05 with 13k. At 82k and 3 days after it was out of warranty, a dealership told us it would be $6500 because they were sure it had blown a head. We didn’t go along with their ‘guess’ and found a reliable mechanic.

I own a 2004 F250 Super Duty F250 with a 6.0L diesel engine. I expected this truck to last me 10 years. Now, I am very doubtful. I have had EGR problems, turbo to intercooler air tube failures, and most recently some sort of intermittent skipping problem. As a lot of other people who own this truck with the 6.0L, I cannot afford to plow thousands of dollars into repairs that won’t ever fix the root cause……a bad design from the beginning. Please send me any paperwork to join the class action lawsuit concerning this vehicle.

My 2004 F350 6 liters diesel had head job done at 112009 klm which in part was over $ 8,000 in parts under Ford warranty and on September 27, 2012 the same problem has occurred and an estimate out over $8,000. I own a 2006 f-250 diesle and have had 3 major break downs and some other issues with the truck since I’ve had it. I’m a year out of warranty and once again having blown head gaskets and head issues. I bought a used 2005 F350 in October of 2005. It had 40,000 miles on it, which seemed like a lot for a year by the previous owner. But I figured it was just broke in. I now have 98000 miles. Just got done paying 5700 bucks to replace the EGR and Turbo. And the repair shop told me that the head gaskets may be bad; that I’ll just have to tow something up a hill to test it. What??!!! From what I’m reading, this may be just the start of problems. Please send me information in regards to what I can do.

I bought a 2004 with 38000 miles at Longmont CO Honda dealership in June 29, 2011. I know have 65000 miles on that vehicle. It is a 2 wheel drive, crew cab, with 6.0 Diesel. Since September 18, 2012 the head gaskets went out and replaced.. Upon the Napa mechanics recommendations we put a delete EGR kit in, a stainless steel oil cooler, and many other parts to remedy the problem. Thus I have put a total of $7100 repairs in this vehicle and also the extended warranty is not paying for any repairs, yet. I could use some help. all have all the repair invoices available if you would like to have them sent to you. Thanks.

I have a 2003 F-350 with the 6.0 powerstroke. I just recently found out about the recall matters and the class action suit. I bought it in 2008 and just in the last few months I have started having problems that all can be linked to the recall items, main problem is getting it to start and once started very rough idle and loss of power. I would like to know if I would have a case or if there would be a way to get Ford to honor the recall.

Oct 25, 2012 11:22

Our 2005 F-250 is in the shop with a repair cost of $3400.00 due to turbo sticking on full boost and blowing out the side of the intercooler. It only has 68,000 miles on it. This is ridiculous! We use it for what it was built to do with no modifications. I was going to write Ford a letter but I see from this forum that it does not do much good. I do think that because of the problems with these trucks they should do something as we spent good money to purchase them and they are not dependable. Please include me and my husband in the lawsuit mentioned. Please send us information about it. Thank you. Joan

I special ordered a 2004 F-350 and received it in March 2004. When I contacted the salesperson after 8 weeks to inquire about the delivery date He told me, there was a quality issue, which needed addressing prior to shipment. I should have cancelled my order then but I trusted Ford would get the issue corrected before shipping. It only has 38K miles and I have had nothing but problems with the truck. The truck has been to the shop may times for air conditioning failure, rough idle, while driving down the road it will jump like it is not getting enough fuel. It has stalled out when accelerating which has caused a couple of close calls for accidents, The service department at the dealership I purchased the truck from became unhelpful and even rude, I have been to three different service departments and it is still a lemon. The Truck is not for commercial use, it is for personal use, and I am uncomfortable driving it because it is unsafe. I want to get in on the class action lawsuit please send me information for the suit. Thanks so much!

I am currently pulling the motor out of my 2004 6.0 F250 to replace head studs, gaskets, and a rusted oil pan. I have already replaced the ERG Cooler and Oil Cooler due to poor engineering on Ford’s part. I have spent thousands on repairs and towing in the last 3 years. Also, the problems are so prevalent, that I can not sell or trade the truck since everyone knows the issues with a 6.0 motor. I would be better off donating it to charity. Please send me any information on a class action lawsuit against Ford Motor Co.

I have a 2006 F-350 diesel in which I bought new in 2005 which has 62000 miles on it and had to have the erg and head gaskets repaired which cost me 8000.00 dollars. We have always had ford vehicles and have never had any problems until this one . I would like to find out how I can inquire about the class action suit against ford ? please contact my email address .

We have a 2006 F-350 diesel the wonderful 6.0 powerstroke. It now has over 200,000 miles on it but not without major repairs and no Ford compensation for warrantee. Now we are told besides the EGR, head gaskets, and many more to name that it is possibly the Fuel Rails and are told that these should not have gone but here we are with no running truck, again. Should have never gotten a Ford… We had a 1500 Dodge Ram with over 550,000 miles on it and all we had to do is change the oil, brakes, tires, ya know regular stuff. Nothing major that truck was a beast and pulled out trucks 3 x’s the size of it and still no problem. I know we will never get fully compensated but after you guys take half, I guess something is better than nothing. Could you send us the paperwork. Would you know how long this law suit will take?
Thank you for all of your time and listening to another satisfied FORD owner.

My wife and I own a 2006 F250 6.0 that we bought new and we have had nothing but problems. The High Pressure Oil Pump, EGR valve, Fuel Control Relay Mudule and a few other parts have all been replaced once along with the Fuel Injectors twice. Just in the last six months alone my repair cost exceed $10,000.00. Had we known we would spend this much money we would have replaced the entire engine and at the very least received a warranty. I”m scared to drive this truck because I feel like it’s just going to leave me stranded and cost me more money. I cant even trade it in for a resonable amount because everyone knows just how much of a POS it is. Please send me info on the class action suit.

Bought my 2006 e350 6.0 diesel brand new and to date spent well over 10,000 in repairs and now a bad head gasket plagues me today. Parked the truck Tuesday night Nov.20th buried my grandmother on the 21st, come back to work on the 26th and greeted with coolant all over my driveway. I already replaced ball joints at 15,000 miles a turbo, computer and twice the brakes failed, I had no power brakes. I still owe money on the damn thing can’t trade it in nobody wants it, I’m stuck with a money pit. I am in business to make profit but my mechanic is reaping on my rewards. If I make a mistake in my business I fix it. It seems as though ford has made a mistake in this design and should admit to their mistakes and man up. I have always owned a ford, but if this is how they treat a loyal customer.
I would like information on the class action suit please,
Sincerely,
Rick Johnson

I have 06 F-250 6.0 bought new in July 06. I have drove it up to North Arkansas 3 times pulling a trailer, 3 times the EGR cooler has failed. If I lived where the terrain was hilly, this truck would have been a lemon. The last time it was was 7 months out of warrenty with only 65,000 miles. Ford would not offer any help. The best estimate I have found to fix the truck is $4000.00. Please send me info on the class action law suit.

2007 ford f250 outlaw lariat when we bought the truck it lasted 2 days.head gaskets and studes,4 weeks later transmission,1 week later turbo,i forgot to tell you we put brand new heads on it from ford,2 weeks which brings us curent. they have the motor tore down.and say it needs a motor long block.we have invested 22,000 dollers in the truck.on top off what we paid for it.
The dealer we bought it from Fiat of strongsville would not do anything even with a 60 day warenty.so i managed to find out who owned the truck.called them talked to the guy and he said that is why he traded it in no body under factory warrenty would do anything for him. that sounds to me like a lemon.then they put it back on the lot for sale and sold it to my wife.
i would love to be involled in this i want a refund. i am willing to go the distance with any one to make what is wrong right.
how could some body nowing this go and sell this truck to a women with 4 kids.
Thank you
Doug

Same problems as thousands of other’s & continuing problems after $12,000 in parts/ labor, loss of use of truck, car rental fees, vacation cancellation, lies, denials from ford, ford dealership, attempts to plain problems a result of non covered warranty parts, causes in order to avoid fixing/ cost of fixing real problem/ s. I’LL NEVER BUY A FORD PRODUCT AGAIN!!!! Multi billion dollar company’s ( ford & northstar) & they can’t just be up front, honest, truthful, responsible & take care of self!! I’m sure the cost to take care of the problem/ s would have been huge but the cost now is going to be huge & loss of sales, trust etc etc in short term & long term is going to be far more expensive.the one car manufacturer that need, take a government bail out after this mess are both going to need one & the people are gonna get stuck with that bill/ cost/ bail out. Pay some up front, pay as you go, pay in the end & PAY AGAIN!!!! & again & again.thanks ford & other company

I have a 2005 Ford F-350 with the 6.0 liter diesel. My issues started at 20,000 miles and
continued until 116,500 miles when I traded it off for a Chevrolet Duramax
I would like you to send me the papers to fill out to join your lawsuit against Ford Motor Co.
I have replaced the Turbo at 20,00 warranty covered, EGR/Oil cooler @ 90,619 miles my cost
$1703.46, Injectors (4) @ 110,732 miles my cost $2178.09, parking brake (in-operatable) and
axle seal @ 111,423 my cost $703.06, Turbo again @ 113,473 miles my cost $2577.75, High
Pressure Oil System rebuild/repair @ 116,564 miles my cost $1797.09.
Total $8256.39 —- All of this work was done at a Ford Garage.
I traded it off on 12/6/12 and there is not a factory sponsored dealership in Oregon that will give
you over $12,000 trade on a $35-41,000 vehicle upgrade. They do not and will not resell them on
their lot. To much liability so they wholesale them out. The 6.0 liter option truck all filling up the
wholesalers lot and they are selling them for around $7-8,000. This is an additional $7,000 loss
for me because of the engine.
I would like to recover all my repair costs and my lose of trade-in value. Why should I have to
pay for Fords mistake?
Please send me the appropriate paperwork so I can join your group,

Thank You

We own a 2004 F350. We had some work done on it and know they say the Complete solution kits is needed. Its $2000.00 just for the kit and then add labor. How do they expect people to afford this fix and when its you everyday vehicle. We even look at trading it and no one will even buy it because of Fords issues. Thanks Ford, a very unsatified customer. Please email me with info on these suit and how to join.

2007 F250 Super Duty, short bed crew cab. In Sept, less than 60 thousand miles, 6 mounths out of warranty, fuel injector bad – cost almost $1,000 to fix. That is when I started research online and found out about all the problems this truck is having. Now I’m terrified about future expenses we cannot afford. I’m posting because it seems I don’t see too many 2007 posted yet, could be the low miles on them so far. We bought this to tow an RV full time. Will be trying to sell ASAP or trade-in once we sell the RV.

I have a 2003 xlt powerstroke Ford truck that I just spent $3,000 on. Supposedly the high pressure oil pump, the injection pressure regulator, the ficm were all bad. I had an injector replaced at 30,000 miles. The truck still runs like a four cylinder. Add me to your list of disgruntled owners. Thanks.

I have a 2006 F250 SD 6 ltr Powerstroke sitting in my driveway dead, latest issue oil cooler and egr cooler both failed and probably took out the head gasket. I run my own business and this truck pulls my service trailer, or did pull it. I can’t afford to fix the truck and can’t buy a new one. Not sure what I’m going to do but after paying Ford 46,000 for the truck and 10,000 in repairs I don’t think they should get away with this crap!!

I have a 2004 F-350 Super duty. I have spend about 12,000.00 on turbo, egr cooler, oil cooler and head bolts. The EGR Cooler was replace 3 time with in a 2 month period . I had to take it to a differ shop to get fix wright when Ford would not fix the truck . The turbo kept blowing the hose off ,they could not fix it wright they took and glue it on ,that was not fixing it and said that was all that they could do. Then EGR cooler blow they replace it and it work for about a week an it blow again they fix again it lasted about a month this time, and it blow again so they told me that they could not work on anymore because my warrenty had ran out .My truck had 99,000 mile on it when all the trouble started and the last time took it in to be fix they told me that my warrenty had ran out and said the motor was blown that I would have to pay 15,000 for a new motor so I had to take it to a differ shop to have it fix. They replace the Oil cooler, EGR cooler , Head bolts and turbo . which cost me about 8,500.00 . I have try to sell this truck for about a year and half nobody wants to buy this type truck with that Engine. Sent all this work has being done i have not had any trouble with it . It has 163,000 mile on it now.

Forgot to mention I had 9500.00 worth of custom boxes and othe upgrades done to the van when it was new. Can’t sell it cause no one wants a 6.0L that hasnt been bullet proofed, which costs about 12,000 in a van and about 10,000 in a pick up. If you want to know what it takes to make it like it should have been new go to BulletProofDiesel.com. Plain and simple inferior engineering with this engine and any one that owns one is going to pay eventually. I want in on the clas action suit

I was just told that my 2006 Ford F350 6.0 Diesel has the exact same problem commonly known to everyone that has ever owned one. The Diesel mechanic that just looked at my truck said it is going to cost $6,000.00 to rebuild my engine, since there is a crack in it due to the faulty manufacturing, that Ford knew about, but has decided to not help consumers. I own 3 Ford trucks and this is the only one that gives me a problem. I take very good care of my vehicles. It is just not right. I really need to join this class action lawsuit against them. I just want them to pay for the upcoming work that is needed.I was originally googling to see if they happened to finally do the right thing and issue a recall or something a like, since they can not technically recall this problem because it is not a safety issue. I happened to come across this lawsuit, that what seems like a lot of lawyers are persuaing. I live in Connecticut, I am not sure if that is a problem. You are the only website that has given me any sort of valid information. Thank you for your time.

06 F250 6.0. had it for three years and put 100, 000 miles in that time frame. Which
Took $16000.00 and does not include the regular maintenance and truck payment just too keep it out on the road. Had all injectors replace EGR cooler twice, oil cool once, stand pipes, ficm and the list goes on.
I’m a contractor and work is seasonal and can not get ahead. I need something too make me money not break the bank. got behind on my house payment that looks bad on my credit score and couldn’t get a loan for a different truck….. hoping too get some more info on this lawsuit please

We have been ripped off by ford as well. 2006 E350 diesel box van that we have had to put close to $25k into..constantly breaks down. Costs $5 – $6k everytime something goes wrong. We also have an Excursion that is the same…constantly in the shop…we are beyond upset that Ford refuses to acknowledge the constent problems and issues with these vehicles. We are facing another $3500 today for something else…just put $5800 into the box van 6 weeks ago! It never ends. We can’t sell it or trade it in when it doesn’t work and nobody wants to buy these vehicles due to all of the problems. WHERE DO WE SIGN UP FOR THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT???????

Just picked up my truck today after a week in the shop. Spent $6,000 so far this year replacing various parts related to damage caused by a faulty ERG valve, cooler, etc. I have received paperwork for a settlement (www.dieselsettlement.com) , but apparently my truck is excluded because it is a 2005 (in service longer than 6 years before the problems occurred). Even though the form includes 2003-2007 Ford trucks. Are you involved in the same lawsuit (Caddel & Chapman)?
Can’t sell this truck because no one wants a 6.0. I live in Maine and would like more information on this class action lawsuit, and need to know if I should exclude myself from this settlement.

I am the original owner of a 2004 F250 6.0 diesel. I have had a lot of the problems associated with this engine. Turbo replaced, FICMA, EGR,Oil Pump replaced. I cannot afford the price that the dealership charges for repairs and have been taking it to a local mechanic. The truck has 123,000 miles, turbo is starting to go out again. The dealership that I bought the truck from WOULD NOT BUY my truck back on their used car lot. The used car manager said the truck is junk and he didn’t want it on his lot.

I have been a repeat ford customer for over a decade’ i bought my first diesiel truck in 2005 a 6.0
I wish i would of known what a lemon i paid 37 k for ‘ i run a granite buisness and haul stone slabs
i remember when it was fully loaded down in 3rd gear it would surge with the begining signs of failing injectors’ ” then the injectors failed just out of warranty’ and then the egr cooler . Im a contractor with not much work now and a broken truck in the driveway that will cost over 8k to fix whats broken. When i see the sticker on the truck made in kentucky america made me realize no wonder we have lost all of our jobs in the usa cause we dont make quality and back it like what ford has done with the 6.0 diesiel crap truck ” U would think the dealer would care after i spent almost 100 k with ford motor co yes im pissed and need some compensation and counseling sincerely David Hotlen

Sounds like I found the right place. I’ve had problems with 2005 Ford diesel F350 after six months of owning it. Had turbo replaced, egr valve and cooler replaced twice, once on warrantty and once out of my pocket. Would love to join this class action lawsuit to get some of my money back. 360.769.5907 or 360 204 6969.

I have a 2005 F-350 King Ranch and I just got the news that my engine is shot with 151,000 miles on it and will cost a minimum of $15k to fix and rebuild. The problem was caused by the typical areas that have a “bad reputation”. Fuel injector issues which may have been caused by the egr cooler going out or just coincidentally at the same time caused much more to happen than just “engine problems”. I called Ford and asked what they can do and since it’s out of warranty and there are no recalls I’m just plain out of luck. I’m interested in potentially joining the suit.

We want to try and re-coop some of the $12,000 we have spent trying to fix our “Built Ford Tuff” 2006 F-350. We bought it thinking we were retiring and would see the National Parks in the US………only that has never happened because we are sinking our retirement into repairing this truck. How do we join the lawsuit?

Hi, my name is John Lane. This concerns the Ford/Navistar 6.0 P/S diesel litigation.

First, are you still involved in this, and if so, who would I talk to about joining this suite?

Little history. I owned a 2004 F250 K/R with the 6.0 PW. We bought this truck new for retirement & to pull an RV. The engine blew in 2011 at 85993 mi. leaving us stranded in GA. The estimated cost to repair by the Ford dealership was between $5000.00 & 7000.00, approx 75% of the value of the truck.

I signed with the firm of Pendley, Baudin & Collier, Plaquemine, LA, to represent me in this litigation. When the proposed settlement of, Nov 14 2012, was offered. They didn’t agree with the settlement and instead of going another route, they dropped the litigation all together. This just happened a week ago.

I read the settlement on line and noticed the dates of 04/31/2013 and 05/22/2013. These are critical dates and I don’t want to miss the opportunity to be involved in this litigation.

Thank You
John Lane

I owned a 2005 F-350. I spent over 10,000 on this vehicle for repairs- ended up having to send it to auction as it was never right and couldn’t sell it outright. Please send me information on how to join the claim.

My son bought a 2003 Ford F350 Diesel Dually from a used car dealership. My son had never owned a diesel before and was eccstatic when he was able to buy one. He had no idea of this problem with the engine. I am sure however that the used car dealership knew this. He paid 13,000.00 for the truck has not even owned the truck for a year and has put at least 7,000 in it. Has had to replace the Ficaum (not sure I spelled that correctly) twice, has had to replace 3 injectors and now has to replace the other 5. Someone told me when I found out about this that unless he was the original owner with the warranty there was nothing that he could do. Are you kidding me? So Ford can be sued for knowingly selling these with bad engines, but only the original owners can be compensated. Yet they can sell the truck or have even already sold the truck and being compensated for a truck they no longer have. All while the new unsuspecting owner is now dealing with these problems. Why did the lawsuit not compensate for all and have Ford replace the engines in all these trucks. A mandatory recall should be set in place. What good does this do for people like my son? Is there any help for people like him? Appreciate anything you can do.

I have a 2006 350 ford diesel 4wdr. I bought this vech. new, it has 122,800 mi. This is my no.9 diesel. All have been great. This truck however takes interminant times of not starting. In fact when you hit the starter the engine never turns over., it just makes a noise like old starters used to when the starter bendix was bad. I replaced the starter twice, but thats not the problem. When this starting problem happens the speedometer jumps to 50 mph while the truck is sitting still. This speedometer problem only occurs when the truck fails to start. After 2 or 3 days the speedometer returns to normal , and only shows up again when the truck fails to start. The ford place has checked the truck several times and says they can,t find the problem.
