The state of Illinois settled its Medicaid fraud lawsuit against Baxter International Inc., for $6.8 million. The settlement with the medical product giant came in the lawsuit where Baxter had been accused of inflating prices of drugs used by poor patients to the State of Illinois.
Attorney General Lisa Madigan filed the lawsuit against Baxter and other drugmakers in 2005, alleging the companies used practices that manipulated the prices of many prescription drugs. The settlement covers more than two dozen Baxter drugs. The fraud in Illinois was the very same as in Alabama and all of the other states.
